Thank you for giving me the opportunity to officiate at your Specialty. I lacked for nothing. Special mentions: Carol Braunstein (a great worker), Jeff and Kathi Powers, who were at my beck and call and driving both judges everywhere we needed to go. Their hospitality choices were perfect. Thanks to Cindy Savioli for putting together a wonderful gift basket.

Your trophy table with the hand painted bird houses was one of the best! Each time I gave one of the bird houses as a trophy I found myself admiring it. I was so happy to receive one as a judge’s gift. Such a cute idea!

The entry at the show was very strong in many areas and weaker in others. Fortunately the stronger area outweighed the weaker areas. You excelled in breed type. Heads and expressions, above average. Outline and movement, good to above average. Temperaments, good (several were environmentally sensitive.) This seemed to be a problem in the younger classes where they probably have not been shown outside a great deal. Several did not like gaiting in the grass, but most of the entry enjoyed the outing in a “natural environment.” I feel as your breed judge the entry at your show gets an A+. Thank you again for inviting me. Best always.

PUPPY 6 MONTHS AND UNDER 9 MONTHS, DOGS (1 entered, 0 absent)

1. WINDHAMLAIR WHITMAN (GCH Jorash Corgard Key Largo CGC x Readfield’s Single Woman) Breeder/Owner: Pamela Mills Cone. Clear red and white youngster, very well made front and rear. Using himself well moving all ways. He had an immature masculine head with a more rounded forehead. He had lovely dark eyes, shaped and set correctly. He is still narrow between the eyes. Confident this will change as he grows on. He had well angled shoulders and good width of thigh. Proper body proportions length to height. A puppy that loved showing. RESERVE WINNERS DOG, BEST PUPPY

9 MONTHS AND UNDER 12 MONTHS, DOGS (1 entered, 0 absent)

1. SANDFOX HEART’S DESIRE (GCh Heartsong Brynlea Pavarotti x Ch Sandfox Heartlight Of Perivale) Breeders: Feli Noeller DVM & Vicki Sandage. Owners: Denise Hartley & Vicki Sandage. A red headed tri dog, medium bone density throughout. Good upper and lower lines with a let down hock. I had to really study his expression as he had some allergy reaction and his eyes were tearing. His eye shape was correct, but his pigment was dulled by the tearing. Nicely balanced corgi throughout. Good both coming and going.

12 TO 18 MONTHS, DOGS (4 entered, 1 absent)

1. HOMESPUN DREAMING OUTLOUD (GCh Martindale Black Bart x Ch Heritage Power Play) Breeders/Owners: Annie Baker & Carla Hellander. A handsome red headed tri, medium sized. Correct bone density and shape. His head has the correct proportions and detail the PWC standard describes. A lovely flat backskull, rounded cheek, correct eye shape set properly. In top condition. Sound coming and going carrying a correct outline on the side. Movement steady and coordinated. Pleased to award him WINNERS DOG.

2. HONEYFOX NO SECRET HESADORABLE (Highfive Secret Santa At Honeyfox x Honeyfox Dancing Isadora) Breeders: Mary CH Johnson & Susan Strickland. Owner : Nicholas & Kristin Pantelides. A red and white dog of similar size and proportions as the tri placing above him. Moved well coming and going. Sidegait also coordinated, he lost to the class winner on head and expression. I found him to be stronger in expression, not harsh, but strong.

3. CORARD’S CATCH ME IF YOU CAN(GCh Corgard’s Dial One VIII-Hundred Yum Yum CA x Ch Corgard’s Rise of the Second Stun) Breeders: Kandy Boll & Michele L Pohl. Owners: Susan Friedman & Kandy L. Boll & Michele Pohl. Here is a red and white more substantial in size than the other two dogs above him. He had an attractive masculine headpiece with correct proportions. I thought he might be my winner of this class, but he simply lacked follow-through and foot timing, coming/going and on the side. It seemed he was not really wanting to go which caused a forced look to his action. He was lacking in freedom of movement. Unfortunate as he is a quality dog. Hope also he will develop a better love for the show ring.

AMERICAN BRED, DOGS (2 entered, 0 absent)

1. HONEYFOX DESIGNER SILK (GCh Nchanted Silk Lining x Honeyfox Peppermint Patty ) Breeders: Susan Stickland & Ruth Baker. Owners: Susan V & Dennis G. Freely. A very attractive red and white dog. Really liked his headpiece with outstanding eye rim pigment, I found him kind in expression. Pleasing type style throughout. He did not want to put purpose to his movement on the side. His movement was acceptable coming and going but hope when he comes in for winners he will have a stronger more extending sidegait.

2. WENDT WORTH OURS THE FURY CGC (Sir Arthur Of Pendragon x Ch Wendt Worth Hot In Cleveland) Breeders: Wendy Wendt % S. Kacia. Owners: Diana Zipperer & Wendy Wendt. Another good looking red and white dog. Lovely coat and condition. He did not have the deep quality head of the first dog but a pleasing masculine head and expression. This is a sound dog when moving from the side. He also moved well coming going. Where he failed was his stance. When his handler brought him to a standing position his front was weak standing. He knuckled over so that his front looked narrow and pinched.

OPEN, DOGS (3 entered, 0 absent)

1. ASHBRYN DREAM WEAVER (GChS Nchanted Concerto x Ch Liaf Spring Golden Dream) Breeder/Owner: Katerina Kuehler. A red and white dog that earned this placement on virtues. He had a pleasing masculine head, with lovely ears and pleasing expression. Very good bone density and shape. This dog wanted to resist gaiting. He did go but lacked ease of movement a corgi should have. When I had him on the table I noticed that his feet were a tad flat over the top of the foot. This improper shape could play in the proper spring back of the foot that is needed to propel the body.

2. JORASH WINDHAMLAIR LATE TO THE PARTY AT LVYSEDGE (GCh Corgard Stun Gun At Jorash x Ch Windhamlair Late July) Breeders/Owners: Amy Schelbenpflug, Ellen Schusterson & Pamela Cone. A very eye catching red and white dog. Good head proportion and shape. I liked his expression. He had a very good body and body shape. He moved average. He too had a stance flaw. When standing he was very narrow and pinched in the front.

3. LIN-KEL NANTEOS EIFION CGC (GCh Lin-Kel Nanteos Gawain x GCh Lin-Kel Nanteos Ceinwen) Breeders: Linda Muglach & Gareth Morgan-Jones & Richard Albeee. A red and white dog quite full of himself. He did better going around the ring after I changed his position in the line-up. I did not find his head as pleasing as those above him. He needs better bone shape. For a male I would desire more size and shape. He had a very patient handler today.

PUPPY 6 MONTHS AND UNDER 9 MONTHS, BITCHES (4 entered, 2 absent)

1. FAIRYSTEED KISS ME KATE (Ch Rosewood Sea Quest x Fairysteed Carousel) Breeder/Owner: Karen Gunzel. Deeper red and white puppy. She moved easily with her pretty feet. Nicely balanced level topline. Good neck flow. An attractive head with good proportions, but I might desire more chiseling on the face.

2. XIII MAPLES STAR BRIGHT (GChS Corwin Incredible Dash x Ch Readfield & XIII Maples Sundance) Breeders: Ellen Childs & Marianne Y. Read. Owner: Ellen C. Childs. Lovely red/white puppy with a charming youthful expression. She had good proportion, length to height. Was lower set and a tad more angular than the first puppy. This was a sound puppy also. She lost to the first puppy on bone quality. She was very refined in bone. As she matures I hope she develops more bone density which would be to her advantage.

9 TO 12 MONTH, BITCHES (1 entered, 0 absent)

1. FOXTALE’S CADENCE (GChS Nchanted Concerto x Ch Kelticloxtale Dream Weaver) Breeder/Owner: Virginia C Fitzgerald. A very pretty single entry in this class. Red/white with very feminine sweet expression. I adored her eyes as they were dark and very expressive. I also liked the correct head proportions with proper chiseling. She looked like a 9-12 bitch, but she has the makings of really good adult bitch. She was sound, good upper and lower lines. Very level topline standing and moving. A quality puppy.

12 TO 18 MONTH, BITCHES (5 entered, 1 absent)

1. BRYNLEA NUTELLA OF SANDFOX (GCh Sandfox Eweknow Eclipse Of The Heart – Ch Brynlea Rhythm Of The Rain) Breeder: Vicki L Sandage & Brenda Stiles & Dr. Sandra L. Hanson. Owners: Vicki Sandage & Brenda Stiles. Here is a very well made red and white with sable bitch. Attractive head and expression. Nice length of body. She handled the natural turf ring well, a very free mover. Her movement reflected her proper structure. She did at times want to squat some when baiting. Her handler did a great job with her.

2. AUBREY’S GO FOR THE GOLD (GChS Nchanted Concerto x GChG Aubrey’s Moon River) Breeders/Owners: Cynthia M. Savioli & Vincent Savioli. A red and white bitch with some sabling over the withers. A long low bitch, well angled both in front and rear. A sound bitch coming and going. I liked this bitch but preferred the winner of the class for expression and neck length and flow.

3. CORGARD’S CATCH A GLIMPSE (GCh Corgards Dial One-VIII Hundred Yum Yum CA x Ch Corgard’s Rise Of The Second Stun) Breeders/Owners: Michele Pohl & Kandy Boll. A red and white bitch with an attractive headpiece, nice neck flow. She was a bitch that was upright in body style. This gave her the appearance of being more square in body. She had a very good middle-piece. I wish she had gaited more evenly. She had up and down movement, with this she showed less reach and drive today.

4. TRESAITH’S SMITTEN WITH SADIE (GCh Tresaith Circletop Smit’ten Over Dewy’s Morgan x Tresaith’s Aneira Snow Bride) Breeders: Zarita Pickett & Janet Richardson. Owners: Janet Richardson & Bill Richardson. This was a disappointment in the class. I thought when I saw this red/white bitch she would be my winner. She had good balance, level topline, length, pretty head and expression. She simply would not gait for her handler. The handler tried all ways but this bitch had her mind made up. Unfortunate because I really liked her.

BRED-BY-EXHIBITOR, BITCHES (6 entered, 0 absent)

1. TOWNHILL WHATS LOVE GOT TO DO WITH IT (GChS Nchanted Concerto x GCh Townhill Penny Lane) Breeders/Owners: Mark Russo & Holly Bunn Russo. A very lovely bitch here. Red/white, super type, lovely dark eye and very proper pleasing feminine expression. She was sound coming/going, but did not want to stay fluid moving on the side. She seemed distracted today by her surroundings. She really has a gorgeous body. I do think she is lovely.

2. AUBREY’S DOIN IT FREESTYLE (GChS Nchanted Concerto – GChG Aubrey’s Moon River) Breeders/Owners: Cynthia M. Savioli & Vincent J. Savioli. A very well made red/white and very feminine with a lot to offer. Lovely body balance. From what I could see she was good coming and going. She seemed to have other things on her mind and not the show ring. She did press the winner of the class. This bitch and the class winner were very distracted with their surroundings today.

3. CORGARD JORASH YOUR SO VAIN (GChS Nchanted Concerto x Ch Jorash Corgard Promise From My Heart) Breeders/Owners: Kandy Boll &Ellen Schusterson & Michele Pohl. Red white with a dusting of sable. I love to see good length and this bitch had it. A good head but somewhat plain in expression. She was a sound bitch with good foot timing. When gaited on the side she had a rise over the topline which spoiled the moving outline.

4. FOXTALE’S RINGING THE PIPE (GCh Heritage Brogan Light The Lamp x Ch Kelticfoxtale Dream Weaver) Breeder/Owner: Virginia Fitzgerald. Another lovely quality bitch. Red/white. Not quite the length of the ones placing above her but well with standard. She had a nice head with super eye and expression. She used herself well on the move and was clean coming and going.

OPEN, BITCHES (9 entered, 1 absent)

1. LLANDIANS CHAMPAGNE KISSES (Ch Llandians Christmas Money x GCh Llandians Champagne On Ice) Breeder/Owner: Dianne Connolly. A red/white bitch with lots of glamour. Lovely mature bitch with proper head proportions and attractive expression with dark eyes. She was a medium sized bitch that moved well all ways on the natural turf. She had very nice body balance with a very good middle-piece. Pretty feet. Turned out beautifully and she showed like she knew it was her day! She and the Winners Dog were a perfect “match up.” WINNERS BITCH, BEST OF WINNERS

2. THE GOODBOY EARLY BIRD (GCh The Goodboy Beyond Fame x Ch Aubrey Tenbay Rock & Roll Fantasy) Breeder: Dong-Seok Yoo, Owners: Dong-Seok Yoo & Cynthia Savioli. A very pretty tri with a similar outline, also similar in size. Moved well and carried a nice outline, showed well, maybe not the head piece of the first bitch but she had a good head with a feminine expression.

3. HERITAGE MAGIC HAT (GCh Ciregna That’s Amore x Ch Heritage Hat Trick) Breeder: Judy Pilat. Owners: Judy Pilat & Ellen Schusterson. Another quality red and white bitch. She too had an attractive head with a pleasing expression. She had very pretty bone like those above her. She was sound coming and going and her sidegait had purpose. She lost to the bitches above her on length of loin.

4. MELYN RHOS RAVENSWOOD (Ch Melyn Rhos At First Sight x Sandfox Chance Play of Perivale) Breeder: B. Lea Jacobs & Vicki Sandage. Owner: B Lea Jacobs. Lovely red and white bitch of a smaller mold than those above her. Charming expression. She covered the ground well all ways. She had very desirable low hocks. Good upper and lower lines. Another quality bitch in a very strong class.

VETERAN CLASS, 7 YEARS AND UNDER 10 YEARS, DOGS (1 entered, 0 absent)

1. GCH CREEKSIDE HARD WORKIN’ MAN (Ch Aberlee Storm Force x Ch Knightsbridge Picabo Street) Breeders: Michael Scott & Michelle Scott. Owners: Kathleen S Norcia & Michelle Scott. A very handsome red and white Veteran here. A substantial well-made dog, definitely not looking like a Veteran. I judged this dog years ago at a Specialty. He has a lovely masculine head, nice outline, still very sound. Was in top condition. I was pleased to see him again. BEST VETERAN

BEST OF BREED COMPETITION (20 entered, 4 absent)
The Best of Breed class at PWCCGS would be an impressive class at any regional specialty. A ring full of beautiful dogs and bitches. There was not one corgi (male or female) that was out of condition. Quality for breed type and soundness was at a high level. I was limited as most judges are at the awards I was allowed to award. I could have awarded many and I am sure that those many will go on and win top honors at other specialties. It was a great pleasure to have such a lovely entry of Champions.

BEST of BREED
GCH BROGAN BRIGHT LIGHT
(GCh Heritage Brogan Light The Lamp x GCh Brogan Tralee) Breeder/Owner: Mari Carroll. What a “STAR” of a bitch! A red and white bitch where everything “goes together.” She has a lovely head and expression (great ears) balanced throughout with proper shoulders/rear quarters. Correct outline standing and moving. A mature bitch in beautiful condition that led me to choose her for BEST OF BREED.

BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX
GCH PEMBURY HOUSE CHIANTI
(Ch Wynnfox Lion In Winter x CH Pembury House Nutmeg Gingham) Breeder: Sandi Eaton. Owners: Jessica Pavia & Bobbi Pavia & Sandi Eaton. Also a mature Champion dog, presenting a lovely picture standing in the line-up. One of the nicest heads I have seen on a male in a time. Lovely tri dog with a glowing coat in the sunshine. Very nicely balanced throughout. Moved properly coming and going. Carries a lovely outline on the move. A steady dog that I kept coming back to in the final competition. I finally decided he was my best dog of the day and BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX to the beautiful GCH Brogan Bright Light.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to the PWCCGS for inviting me to judge your Sweepstakes classes at your Specialty. What an unforgettable experience it was from start to finish. Being in New Jersey was like being home for this girl from upstate New York, and everyone made me feel very welcome. Starting with the most beautiful and bountiful welcome basket waiting for me at the hotel and a wonderful dinner with our gracious hosts Kathi and Jeff Powers on Friday night, to the delicious banquet Saturday night and my gorgeous judges gift so lovingly hand painted by Kim Hundley, it was an incredible experience. But most of all, the lovely entry of corgis presented to me in the classes just took my breath away! There was so much quality in so many of the classes! Several times I had to convince myself that I could choose which ones to place first, because any one of them could have taken home the pink ribbon on the day. I loved my final line up, congratulations to the breeders of these lovely corgis.

SWEEPSTAKES PUPPY 6 TO 9 MONTH DOGS (1 entered, 0 absent)
A lovely class of young boys who could easily switch placements on a different day!

1. WINDAMLAIR WHITMAN Red and white puppy with a nice outline, nice level topline which he held on the move. Very nice shoulder and stifle angulations, good side gait, a bit close going away. I would prefer a better headpiece.

SWEEPSTAKES PUPPY 9 TO 12 MONTH DOGS (1 entered, 0 absent)

1. SANDFOX HEART’S DESIRE Tricolor puppy with a pleasing headpiece, would prefer a darker eye. He had an outstanding outline, nice and long and low, with very nice shoulder and stifle angulations, a level topline which he held on the move. Beautiful side gait, with good reach and drive, he just floated around the ring. I was pleased to award him BEST OPPOSITE SEX IN SWEEPSTAKES.

SWEEPSTAKES 12 TO 15 MONTH DOGS (1 entered, 0 absent)

1. CORGARD’S CATCH ME IF YOU CAN Tricolor dog with a lovey headpiece, nice outline, would prefer that he were lower to the ground. Good angulations front and rear, good topline which he held on the move. He had very good bone and a good side gait.

SWEEPSTAKES 15 TO 18 MONTH DOGS (1 entered, 0 absent)

1. HOMESPUN DREAMING OUTLOUD Another lovely tricolor dog with a beautiful expressive headpiece. Nice outline, would prefer more length, adequate shoulder angulation, very good stifle angulation. Good length of ribcage, dead level topline which he held on the move. Good mover, clean coming and going. This dog was in contention for a higher award.

SWEEPSTAKES PUPPY 6 TO 9 MONTH BITCHES (4 entered, 2 absent)

1. FAIRYSTEED KISS ME KATE Plain red and white bitch with a pleasant headpiece, lovely outline, nice and long and low. She had a nice balanced shoulder and stifle angulation with a dead level topline which she held on the move. Nice length of ribcage. Good mover.

2. XIII MAPLES STAR BRIGHT Pretty red and right puppy with a beautiful headpiece and a lovely long neck. She also had a nice outline and level topline, would have preferred a more substantial hindquarter and more bone. Very nice side gait.

A lovely class of bitches, the strongest class of the day.

1. AUBREY’S GO FOR THE GOLD A stunning sable bitch with a beautiful expressive headpiece, fabulous outline and outstanding balanced front and rear angulations. She had a dead level topline which she held on the move. Good bone, lovely feet. Clean coming and going and she had a beautiful flowing side gait that I could watch all day. I was pleased to award her BEST IN SWEEPSTAKES.

2. AUBREY’S DOIN’ IT FREESTYLE Another lovely bitch who is a littermate to the one above, who pushed hard for first place. She had a plainer headpiece, but a stunning long and low outline, dead level topline, outstanding front and rear angulations. She had a flowing side gait with beautiful reach and drive, best movement of the whole entry. Because she was feeling her oats today, she was not as clean going away. On another day she could have switched places with her sister.

3. BRYNLEA NUTELLA OF SANDFOX A light sable bitch who was also a quality bitch. She had a lovely headpiece, a fabulous outline, adequate front angulation and superb rear angulation. She had a nice topline that tended to drop off at the croup. Her side gait was beautiful with good reach and drive, and she was clean coming and going.

4. TRESAITH’S SMITTEN WITH SADIE A red and white bitch with a lovely outline, nice neck, nice long ribcage, and a dead level topline which she held on the move. Good side gait and clean coming and going. Would have preferred a more feminine headpiece.

1. THE GOODBOY EARLY BIRD A lovely tricolor bitch with a beautiful headpiece, nice outline, would prefer a bit more length. Fabulous front and rear angulations and a dead level topline which she held on the move. Lovely side gait and clean coming and going. Strongly considered for Best in Sweepstakes.

2. REINWOOD ONE WITH THE FORCE (Ch. Townhill Jorash Autumn In New York x Reinwood Electra Glide) Breeders/Owners: Mary-Elizabeth Simpson & Cathy Santarsiero. Red and white bitch with a lovely headpiece. Nice level topline which she held on the move, would prefer more length of back and lower to the ground.
