I would like to thank the officers and committee members of the PWCCGS for inviting me to judge your Specialty this year – your 20th Birthday show. I had a wonderful time. I would like to thank Sue King, the Show Chairman, for a smoothly run show. Karen Fruhmann and Andria Filipponi-Maloney, my Ring Stewards, they kept my ring running like clockwork and for that I thank them. A special thanks to Laura Heckler for driving me to and from the airport and taking such good care of me, making sure my every need was met. The ballroom where the show was held was spacious, and decorated beautifully.

I will always treasure my Judges Gift that I received at the banquet. A Linda Ozelis corgi figurine with my kennel name inscribed on it. It is beautiful and will be a constant reminder of your lovely show. Thank you!!!!

I enjoyed judging your dogs and they were presented to me in lovely condition. As seems to be the case these days, the bitch entry was much higher in quality than the class dogs, which is something we as breeders should try and keep an eye on.

Once again thank you for having me and Happy 20th Birthday.

— Kristen Francis

PUPPY 6 MONTHS AND UNDER 9 MONTHS, DOGS (9 exhibited)

1. TRI’D N TRU SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE (Ch. Putnam Forever Splendor x Ch. Lost River’s Dream Come Tru) Breeders/Owners: Kathleen &Amp; Martin Hash &Amp; Shawn Michael. Red &Amp; white who was the soundest in the class. Lovely outline with proper length of neck and body. Masculine head with dark eyes and nice ears. Good bone but with a tad roundish foot. Nice angulation fore and aft which he used well on the move with a strong level topline. WINNERS DOG
2. CURIG FAERIETALE BOUTONNIERE Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Curig Trillium) Breeders/Owners: Barbara DuPree &Amp; Susan Neave. Sweet headed R/W boy with dark eyes and pigment. Straighter angles in front and rear which led to a shorter neck. Good length of body and nice bone. Moved well.
3. HONEYFOX HAT TRICK (Ch. Honeyfox Secret Love x Honeyfox Angelique) Breeder/Owner: Susan Strickland. Very pretty head on this R/W boy with nice dark eyes and pigment. Has a lovely reach of neck and good length of body. Good bone and feet with nice short hocks. Tends to lift too much in front on the move.
4. WINDCREST NADOLIG WIZARDRY (Ch. Windcrest Zipn Indiana Jones x Ch. Windcrest Amazing Grace) Breeders/Owners: Mary Elizabeth Simpson &Amp; Cathy Santarsiero. Pretty head on this RH/Tri. Shoulder assembly is placed forward which led to a shorter neck. Nice length of body and good bone for his size.

PUPPY 9 MONTHS AND UNDER 12 MONTHS, DOGS (3 exhibited)

1. TAICHRITIA SNAPDRAGON (Ch. Milestone Harris Tweed x Ch. Taichritia Spiff N Polish) Breeders: Joan Healy &Amp; Donna Gilbert. Owner: Joan D. Healy. Very balanced R/W with an outstanding elegant outline. Pretty head with a nice eye. Moves well and was strongly considered for Winners Dog but his topline bounces, perhaps will settle with age. RESERVE WINNERS DOG
2. SALT MEADOW HERONSWAY BALLAD (Ch. Perrymist Red Affair x Ch. Heronsway Outta Sight) Breeders/Owners: Lisa J. Burns & Anne J. Bowes. Another R/W dog with a pretty head and is very similar in body type to #1 but a little higher on leg. Nice bone and feet with a nicely angulated rear. On the move his topline tends to roach a little at this age.
3. LLANDIANS LOVIN’UP A STORM (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Llandians Love Me Love Me Not) Breeders: Barbara Gurwell & Dianne Connolly. Owner: Dianne Connolly. R/W with a nice head and dark eye. This dog is straighter in front and rear. Would prefer more length to his body. Good bone and feet.

12 TO 18 MONTH, DOGS (1 exhibited)

1. XIII MAPLES STORM AT READFIELD (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Readfield Moon O’er XIII Maples) Breeders/Owners: Marianne Y. Read &Amp; Ellen C. Childs. R/W with a very handsome head with nice dark eyes and good ear shape. Nice length of body and rear angles with short hocks and lovely bone. Shoulder more upright with a short upper arm. His outline has a very abrupt connection from neck to body instead of a lovely smooth flow.

BRED-BY-EXHIBITOR, DOGS (1 exhibited)

1. WAKEFIELD BRAMBLE (Powdermill Pure Tribute For Salvenik x Ch. Wakefield Glinda of Oz) Breeders: P. Kessler &Amp; P. Dent. Owners: Peggy Kessler &Amp; P. Dent &Amp; M. Tomlin. Nice head on this R/W boy. Good body length but a bit higher on leg at this time. On the move he is wider in front motion.

AMERICAN-BRED, DOGS (2 exhibited)

1. HONEYFOX MAGIC DRAGON, CD (Ch. Cinonnie Regulus x Putnam’s Could It Be Magic) Breeder: Susan Strickland. Owners: Sharon Birkbeck & Susan Strickland. Very elegant R/W dog with a lovely reach of neck with well layed shoulders. Makes a nice outline with good bone and feet. Pretty head. Too long in loin which is accentuated on the move.
2. DONAWAY’S BAILEY IRISH CREAM (Ch. Otreks Festive Ghost x Donaways Foxy Doll) Breeder: Dona Straway. Owner: Jan T. Jorristma. Sable boy who lives too close to the kitchen. Overweight and out of condition.

WINNERS DOG
TRI’D N TRU SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE
(Ch. Putnam Forever Splendor x Ch. Lost River’s Dream Come Tru) Breeders/Owners: Kathleen &Amp; Martin Hash &Amp; Shawn Michael.

RESERVE WINNERS DOG

PUPPY 6 MONTHS AND UNDER 9 MONTHS, BITCHES (8 exhibited)

1. HERONSWAY DARE TO DREAM (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Heronsway Daydream Believer) Breeder: Anne Bowes. Owners: Anne H. Bowes &Amp; Marlyss Whalen. Sweet head on this R/W baby with dark eyes and pigment. Nice front, bone and feet. Nice length of body and good angulaton with nice short hocks. Moved very well around the ring.
2. HERONSWAY DREAM ON (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Heronsway Daydream Believer) Breeder/Owner: Anne H. Bowes. A glamorous R/W who is litter sister to 1st place. This baby has a bit more reach of neck and is a shade bigger than her sister but alot of the same attributes apply to this one. I am sure these two will trade places many times because there isn’t much to separate them, her sister just moved a bit better today. I like them both very much.
3. FAIRYSTEED’S HOBGOBLIN (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Fairysteeds Quite A Lot) Breeder/Owner: Karen Gunzel. A cute headed R/W puppy with nice dark eyes. Nicely put together in all aspects. Good bone and feet, length of body and angles. Moved well.
4. CURIG FAERIETALE BABY’S BREATH (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Curig Trillium) Breeders/Owners: Barbara DuPree &Amp; Susan Neave. A cobbier R/W puppy with a very pretty head with dark eyes and pigment. At this stage in her life she tends to be shorter in neck and body. Moving wide in the front today.

PUPPY 9 MONTHS AND UNDER 12 MONTHS, BITCHES (6 exhibited)

1. HERONSWAY SALT MEADOW SONNET (Ch. Perrymist Red Affair x Ch. Heronsway Outta Sight) Breeders/Owners: Lisa J. Burns &Amp; Anne H. Bowes. What an outstandingly elegant outline on this R/W puppy girl. Everything flowed just right for what I am looking for in a corgi. Lovely reach of neck with a beautiful transition into her correct length of back and wonderful angulation. Level topline, standing and moving. Pretty head with nice dark eyes, good bone and feet. To be picky, she was a bit wide in front but her other qualities far outweighed this aspect and I was more than pleased to award her WINNERS BITCH, BEST OF WINNERS, BEST PUPPY.
2. LLANDIANS LOVE AT LAST (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Llandians Love Me Love Me Not) Breeders: Barbara Gurwell & Dianne Connolly. Owner: Dianne Connolly. Very pretty and feminine head on this R/W girl. Nice outline standing with good reach of neck and length on body with good bone and feet. On the move, she rounds her topline and falls off at the croup.
3. TAICHRITIA CALLA LILY (Ch. Milestone Harris Tweed x Ch. Taichritia Spiff N’ Polish) Breeders: Joan Healy &Amp; Donna Gilbert. Owner: Joan D. Healy. R/W with sabling. This girl also has a very lovely head with nice eyes and ear shape. Pleasing outline and good bone.
4. HONEYFOX ENERGIZER BUNNY (Honeyfox Ever Ready x Honeyfox Golly Miss Molly) Breeder: Rosann McPherson. Owner: Susan Strickland. Sweet headed RH/Tri puppy. Nice length of body and good angulation in rear. Front is straighter which led to her being shorter in neck. Moved a little sluggishly today.

12 TO 18 MONTH, BITCHES (7 exhibited)

1. CURIG FAERIETALE AMARYLLIS (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Faerietale Curig Bewitched) Breeders/Owners: Barbara DuPree &Amp; Susan Neave. Pretty head on this R/W girl with dark eyes and pigment. Very nice outline with proper reach of neck and length. Good bone and feet. Moved well in all directions and was happy to award her RESERVE WINNERS BITCH.
2. HERONSWAY SEND IN THE CLOWNS (Ch. Highleigh Whatcamacallit x Ch. Heronsway Heart’s Desire) Owner: Anne H. Bowes. Stylish R/W with a pretty head. Good outline with good length of neck and body. Good bone and feet and presented very nicely. Move well from the side.
3. XIII MAPLES STAR CASTLE (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Readfield Moon O’er XIII Maples) Breeders: Ellen Childs &Amp; Marianne Read. Owners: Ellen C. Childs &Amp; Mark Russo. Very nice head and eyes on this R/W girl. Nice length of body but a little shorter in neck due to an upright shoulder placement which restricts her front movement.
4. CARTERHALL CRACKLIN ROSE (Ch. Carterhall Komodo Dragon x Penliath Evening Star) Breeders/Owners: Joseph &Amp; Dora Carter. Plainer headed R/W bitch with a nice neck and proper length of body. Good bone.

BRED-BY-EXHIBITOR, BITCHES (8 exhibited)

1. TAMS EVEN SO (Ch. Maremont’s Highway To Heaven, CDX x Tams Prime Star) Breeder/Owner: Kay Hammel. Beautiful head and expressive dark eyes on this RH/Tri girl. Lovely reach of neck and length of body. Great bone into correctly shaped feet. Wonderful reach and drive on the move. She was a little plumb which didn’t help her topline at times.
2. LLANDIAN TALKIN BOUT MY GIRL (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Llandians Love In The Mist) Breeder/Owner: Dianne Connolly. Nice head and eye. This R/W has a nice reach of neck and length of body. Loses this outline on the move.
3. PEMBURY HOUSE GIFTED (Ch. Hum’nbird Valedictorian x Ch. Festiniog Arbor Beach Party) Breeder/Owner: Sandi Eaton. R/H Tri with a pretty head. Taller bitch with a good length of neck and matching length of body. Good topline and bone. Moved well.
4. MILESTONE CENTER COURT (Ch. Highleigh Whatchamacallit x Ch. Milestone Augusta National) Breeder/Owner: Donna M. Gilbert. R/W girl with proper proportions. Moved adequately.

AMERICAN-BRED, BITCHES (2 exhibited)

1. PEMBURY HOUSE PRESENCE (Ch. Hum’nbird Valedictorian x Ch. Festiniog Arbor Beach Party) Breeder/Owner: Sandi Eaton. R/W girl that has all the same attributes as her Tri sister in Bred-By.
2. PUTNAM’S UNFORGETABLE BEAUTY (Ch. Putnam Always Splendor x Putnam’s Enchantress) Breeder: J. McCormick. Owner: Liza Clark. R/W with sable shadings. Shorter neck not helped by being overweight. High in the rear.

OPEN, BITCHES (5 exhibited)

1. BROGAN BRECKENRIDGE (Ch. Tenbay’s All My Loving x Brogan Belle of The Ball) Breeder/Owner: Mari Fleming Carroll. This RH/Tri bitch stood out in the class. I knew she would be my winner when she entered. Lovely head with an expressive eye. Beautiful outline with good lay of shoulder and nicely angulated in behind which she used well on the move. Nice bone and feet.
2. MYLLWYN MAKE A WISH (Cordach Senator x Myllwyn Moulin Rouge) Breeders: Mr. & Mrs. B. Millie. Owner: Mindy Holmes. Narrower headed R/W girl with dark eyes. Shorter neck due to straighter shoulder placement but good length of body. A little light on bone for her body. Falls away at the croup slightly when moving. Moved around the ring with purpose.
3. AUBREY’S SIMPLY ENCHANTING (Ch. Woodhenge Dream Maker, NA, NAJ x Ch. Aubrey’s Zinnia) Breeders: C. & V. Savioli. Owners: Kathleen & Martin Hash & Vincent & Cynthia Savioli. R/W with a nice head. Good reach of neck and length of body but tends to dip slightly at the wither.
4. HARMONY SWEET MOLLY MALONE (Ch. Salvenik Sweet Thoughts x Ch. Brogan Bonny Belle At Harmony) Breeder/Owner: Melody A. Kist. R/W with a sweet head. Nice outline to the body. Front is wide and rear is narrow on the move.

2004 PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES

Best in SweepsHeronsway Send in the Clowns
Best of Opposite SweepsXIII Maples Storm at Readfield

deb shindle (riverside)

Thank you so much for inviting me to judge sweepstakes at your 2004 Specialty. I have so been looking forward to this assignment. Thank you: Laura Heckler for taking such good care of me and looking out for everything. Andria Filliponi Maloney and Karen Fruhman for stewards extroidinaire, and Sue King for just being on top of everything else as a good Corgi Show Chair does.

Over all there was great depth of quality in all of the classes. We have improved greatly, with much consistency in breed type, dark eyes, good bone, feet, and toplines. I saw no bad bites and for the most part adequate side gait. One area of concern, is fronts coming at you. There were many different versions of front movement coming at you, with correct being rare. My final line up was outstanding and a joy to watch. I loved the balance, outline, side gait and depth of breed type quality in my Best in Sweeps and Best Opposite In Sweeps. I look forward to their owner’s progress with them in the ring. I do want to add, as I was able to watch breed judging of regular classes the next day, some of the exhibits had much better behavior their 2nd day in the same ring, especially in the younger age groups.

Thank you again for the Good Sportsmanship portrayed by all the exhibitors and the hospitality and kindness from everyone.

SWEEPSTAKES PUPPY 6 MONTHS AND UNDER 9 MONTHS, DOGS (9 exhibited)

1. SANDFOX UNBRIDLED (Ch. Tallyrand No Greater Love x Ch. Sandfox Set Me Free) Breeder: Vicki Sandage. Owners: Carol Donnelly &Amp; Vicki Sandage. Lovely, balanced Tri with good outline, bone and feet, would prefer a tad prettier head and more effort in his movement, so all could see his correct side gait. Held his topline on the move and standing.
2. CURIG FAERIETALE BOUTONNIERE (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Curig Trillium) Breeders/Owners: Barbara DuPree &Amp; Susan Neave. When this boy first came in the ring, I thought he would be my winner. If he had a bit more length and squared off butt, he would have. Best head in the class, and good side gait, bone and feet. On the move lost his topline in the croup/butt area.
3. TRI’D N TRU SIMPLY IRRESISTIBLE (Ch. Putnam Forever Splendor x Ch. Lost River’s Dream Come Tru) Breeders/Owners: Kathleen &Amp; Martin Hash &Amp; Shawn Michael. Best side gait of class. Nice dark eye, different head type, though will be handsome when mature, not a puppy dog head. Good outline, though could also drop off in croup area, good bone and feet.
4. HONEYFOX HAT TRICK (Ch. Honeyfox Secret Love x Honeyfox Angelique) Breeder/Owner: Susan Strickland. Well trained, prettiest type of class. Great bone, outline and croup, but less side gait and length than the ones above.

SWEEPSTAKES PUPPY 9 MONTHS AND UNDER 12 MONTHS, DOGS (3 exhibited)

1. TAICHRITIA SNAPDRAGON (Ch. Milestone Harris Tweed x Ch. Taichritia Spiff N Polish) Breeders: Joan Healy &Amp; Donna Gilbert. Owner: Joan D. Healy. Most together of the entries in this class. Nice easy side gait. Beautiful breed type, head, and scopey outline. Held his topline on the move and standing.
2. SALT MEADOW HERONSWAY BALLAD (Ch. Perrymist Red Affair x Ch. Heronsway Outta Sight) Breeders/Owners: Lisa J. Burns &Amp; Anne J. Bowes. Also a nice puppy, little stronger more masculine head type, similar outline with a tad less balance. Very well trained.
3. LLANDIANS LOVIN’UP A STORM (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Llandians Love Me Love Me Not) Breeders: Barbara Gurwell &Amp; Dianne Connolly. Owner: Dianne Connolly. Beautiful headed, most mature of class with a very deep brisket, and great bone. Less balanced in his length of leg to length of body.

SWEEPSTAKES 12 TO 15 MONTH, DOGS (2 absent)

SWEEPSTAKES 15 TO 18 MONTH, DOGS (1 exhibited)

1. XIII MAPLES STORM AT READFIELD (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Readfield Moon O’er XIII Maples) Breeders/Owners: Marianne Y. Read &Amp; Ellen C. Childs. Loved the look of this single entry as he walked into the ring. Beautiful, but masculine head. Great outline, beautiful headed, most balanced dog with great bone, feet, and held topline standing and moving. Was an easy choice for BEST OPPOSITE SWEEPSTAKES

SWEEPSTAKES PUPPY 6 MONTHS AND UNDER 9 MONTHS, BITCHES (7 exhibited)

1. HERONSWAY DREAM ON (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Heronsway Daydream Believer) Breeder/Owner: Anne H. Bowes. Very close between these two bitches, which of course I found later to be littermates. I preferred the beautiful, sweet face on this bitch, otherwise the critiques are the same. Great bone, feet and outline with good length, and level toplines standing and on the move. Short little hocks, which I hope will continue to grow on as they grow up. Would prefer bigger, higher ear and more reach and drive on both of them, but ohhhh what beautiful type and bone. I find this bitch a tad scopeier than her sister, though she doesn’t always pull herself together and show it off.
2. HERONSWAY DARE TO DREAM (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Heronsway Daydream Believer) Breeder: Anne Bowes. Owners: Anne H. Bowes &Amp; Marlyss Whalen. Ditto to above #1 sister.
3. CURIG FAERIETALE BABY’S BREATH (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Curig Trillium) Breeders/Owners: Barbara DuPree &Amp; Susan Neave. Another nice baby girl, similar outline, and bone with another pretty head. Loved her correct ear size and set. Not quite as balanced and did not hold topline on the move.
4. CALISTA’S I DO DECLARE (Ch. Caralon Calista Hail To Reason x Ch. Caralon Calista Yes I Can) Breeders/Owners: John & Gaye Georges. Cute, Tri baby girl, not sure she wanted to show today. More leg than the above girls but gave a balanced picture.

SWEEPSTAKES PUPPY 9 MONTHS AND UNDER 12 MONTHS, BITCHES (7 exhibited)

1. HERONSWAY SEVENTH HEAVEN (Hum’nbrid Nathaniel Hawthorne x Ch. Heronsway Sweet Sixteen) Breeder/Owner: Anne H. Bowes. Beautiful headed, lovely outlined bitch. Best topline of the class, standing and on the move, at this age, head size is not in proportion to body.
2. TAICHRITIA CALLA LILY (Ch. Milestone Harris Tweed x Ch. Taichritia Spiff N’ Polish) Breeders: Joan Healy &Amp; Donna Gilbert. Owner: Joan D. Healy. Similar outline to #1, another beautiful head, good depth of body and bone, topline not as firm on the move.
3. HERONSWAY SALT MEADOW SONNET (Ch. Perrymist Red Affair x Ch. Heronsway Outta Sight) Breeders/Owners: Lisa J. Burns &Amp; Anne H. Bowes. Another good outline, similar to #1 and #2. A different head type but still pretty, not moving out as much as the two above. Very well trained.
4. LLANDIANS LOVE AT LAST (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Llandians Love Me Love Me Not) Breeders: Barbara Gurwell &Amp; Dianne Connolly. Owner: Dianne Connolly. Loved the scope and type of this bitch. On the move was dropping in the shoulder area.

SWEEPSTAKES 12 TO 15 MONTH, BITCHES (5 exhibited)

1. HERONSWAY SEND IN THE CLOWNS (Ch. Highleigh Whatcamacallit x Ch. Heronsway Heart’s Desire) Owner: Anne H. Bowes.Beautiful headed, dark eyed, great outlined bitch. Good bone with beautiful feet. Balanced standing and moving, held topline on the move and standing, good moving from the side and one of the few good fronts coming at you of the day. I was pleased to award her BEST in SWEEPSTAKES
2. CURIG FAERIETALE AMARYLLIS (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Faerietale Curig Bewitched) Breeders/Owners: Barbara DuPree &Amp; Susan Neave. Very close to #1 in outline, balance and movement. Great bone. Unfortunately did not hold topline on the move.
3. MYSTICAL SLAM DUNK (Ch. Aberlee Bransby x Ch. Mystical To Have and Have Not, HT) Breeder/Owner: Deborah L. Beal. Scopey outline, a little leggy for body length. This bitch was misbehaving, making it difficult to access her.
4. CARTERHALL CRACKLIN ROSE (Ch. Carterhall Komodo Dragon x Penliath Evening Star) Breeders/Owners: Joseph &Amp; Dora Carter. Lower stationed, but balanced bitch. Less feminine head and less side gait than the ones above.

SWEEPSTAKES 15 TO 18 MONTH, BITCHES (4 exhibited)

1. LLANDIAN TALKIN BOUT MY GIRL (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Llandians Love In The Mist) Breeder/Owner: Dianne Connolly. Very pretty bitch. Good outline and balance moving and standing, nice bone, holding her topline on the move and standing.
2. MILESTONE CENTER COURT (Ch. Highleigh Whatchamacallit x Ch. Milestone Augusta National) Breeder/Owner: Donna M. Gilbert. Another very nice bitch, a little more scopey, but not as willing to show off her side gait. Drops off in the croup a little on the move.
3. MILESTONE DOUBLES PARTNER (Ch. Highleigh Whatchamacallit x Ch. Milestone Augusta National) Breeder: Donna Gilbert. Owners: Carolann F. VanWyen &Amp; Donna M. Gilbert. Very nice side gait, outline and balance in this sable bitch. Could be a tad prettier and shown a little on the heavy side.
4. XIII MAPLES STAR CASTLE (Ch. Aberlee Storm Force x Ch. Readfield Moon O’er XIII Maples) Breeders: Ellen Childs &Amp; Marianne Read. Owners: Ellen C. Childs &Amp; Mark Russo. Very pretty bitch. Did not use her self at all, also on the heavy side, was not in a show mode today.
