I would like to thank the officers and committee of the PWCCGS for the invitation to judge your specialty. Special thanks to Cindy & Vince Savioli and also Bobby Lord for taking good care of me, thanks to my lovely stewards, Karen and Sue, who kept everything rolling and me in order as well. Last but not least to the exhibitors for bringing their lovely dogs for me to judge.

I was delighted with my superb corgi sign with Pemland on it; I will treasure it always a reminder of my wonderful weekend with you all. Thank you.

I enjoyed very much judging your dogs and found a good depth of quality particularly in the bitch classes and was sorry some very nice ones went away without a ribbon. Presentation, showmanship and temperament were of the highest standard, however movement needs watching, some with very close rear action and incorrect lay back of shoulder; this spoils the lovely free movement we all aim for.

This is an age-old problem; we all suffer from it. We must never become complacent about it and never let it get out of control.

— Mary Magness

2002 junior showmanship

Best Junior HandlerKrystle Bounds

andria filipponi-maloney (renfrew)

Judging the first Junior Showmanship classes at the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of the Garden State’s Seventh Specialty on May 3, 2002, was a real honor for me. Though the classes were small, the Juniors that presented themselves in the ring were of the best. If you had the opportunity to watch these classes, I am sure you would agree. These young individuals showed professionalism beyond their years. Although I could only present one Best Junior Handler ribbon, I feel they all were deserving. I congratulate them and wish them the brightest futures.

Our efforts are never wasted on our youth. As I have said before and as I will say again, encourage these young handlers anyway you can.

Thank you PWCCGS!

sally wynn (red oak)

I would like to thank the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of the Garden State for inviting me to judge its sweepstakes classes. In keeping with its reputation, the PWCCGS provided wonderful hospitality, wonderful stewards, and a wonderful judge’s gift that I will always treasure. Also, I would like to thank the exhibitors for bringing their puppies and juniors to me and for the sportsmanship with which they accepted my placements. Almost without exception, the exhibits were well-groomed, had lovely temperaments, and were a pleasure to go over. Overall, I found much more depth of quality in the bitch classes than in the dog classes. There was only one problem that I saw with consistency – many of the exhibits, particularly in the younger classes, were quite close in the rear. And I saw a few very crooked fronts.Puppies change quickly and often. Unfortunately, I only get to evaluate each exhibit on one day, and only for a very few minutes. And, I must try to put out of my mind what I think each puppy or junior might be like when he/she matures and, instead, judge the exhibit only based on what I see on the day.
