Being invited to judge the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of the Garden State is a great honor and greatly appreciated. My thanks go to the committee for inviting me! Special thanks to Bobbe Lord who made Hanne and me so welcome and made sure we will never forget the New Jersey hospitality and the beauty of its landscape and the friendliness of its people. We spent a couple of memorable days together before the show. I know how busy a show chairperson’s schedule is, so thank you very much Bobbe for showing us around and making sure we had a good time.
Thanks also to all the exhibitors for accepting my decisions gracefully and sportingly. I was impressed with the overall quality of your corgis, and especially in bitches — there was not one who would not have been awarded Excellent under our grading system. Thank you all for giving me this wonderful opportunity to go over quality dogs. And of course my beautiful teapot that traveled home on my lap has pride of place in my treasure cupboard.

Similar in type and quality to 1, but not quite as stable coming. Excellent proportions, type, size and angulations. Lovely head with dark eyes and well placed ears. She also has a level topline standing.

Well built, with good lay back of shoulder and good length of upper arm, nice short hocks and well rounded stifle. Topline still rising a bit, especially on the move. Soundly moving.

Pretty tri carrying a little too much weight to offer real competition on the day to the two in front, but nevertheless can move and is still a well made bitch with a pretty head.

Going over her confirmed my first impression, she felt as right as she looked. Loved her face and expression, which is the icing of the cake. To top it all, she could move! So for top honors, my choice was quickly made.

I want to thank the Garden State Club for the invitation to judge your puppy sweepstakes and to the exhibitors for bringing their youngsters to show. Special thanks to Bobbe Lord who picked me up at the airport and took us on a fun day of sightseeing, shopping and to eat at a New Jersey Diner. Now, that was quite the experience! I would also like to thank my ring stewards, Terry and Judy Coughlin, who helped me in the ring. Some of the puppies had difficulty getting through the thick wet grass which affected some of the results. It was a lovely entry with many nice puppies to evaluate. I was very pleased with my Best in Sweeps and Best Opposite. My judge’s gift is very special and I can’t stop looking at the lovely tea pot with Picture Postcard’s image, something I will treasure forever.

Shown in immaculate condition and handled to her best advantage. She was the complete package today and I was pleased to award her BEST in SWEEPSTAKES
